Salon 1: The Rise of BIPOC Data & Distribution
Presented by Canada Council, Cool.World, and Stories First
BIPOC Audience Strategies and Digital Strategy. This will briefly talk about digital literacy for BIPOC creators and then have a deep focus on audience development that, with decolonized data tools, can reach engagement goals and continually re-engage/re-activate BIPOC audiences as a larger collaborative and systemic change against traditional, non-diverse, restrictive, and oppressive social media corporations.
- Understand the need to explain and describe intended & target audiences in pitches, grant application, etc.
- Learn the vernacular and the definitions behind digital strategy and community impact. Why? Every single new grant requires this in-depth analysis of how we will reach audiences digitally, especially during this digital distribution disruption.
- Understand the basics behind measurement of interests, psycho-demographics, and box office sales.
- To get a comprehensive understanding of the Canadian industry and where the barriers and ignorant pain points are because the nation is 10 years behind the global trend (in terms of marketing, digital distribution, etc.). Why? To place the power/knowledge in filmmakers’ hands as the system is moving too slow.
