Host of the podcast Big Tech<\/a><\/em>, Taylor Owen<\/strong> is the Beaverbrook Chair in Media, Ethics and Communications, and founding Director of the Center Media, Technology and Democracy in the Max Bell School of Public Policy at McGill University. Author of\u00a0Disruptive Power: The Crisis of the\u00a0State in the Digital Age<\/a><\/em>, Taylor is the Co-Chair of The Canadian Commission on Democratic Expression with former Supreme Court Justice Beverley McLaughlin. Co-editor of\u00a0The World Won\u2019t Wait: Why Canada Needs to Rethink its Foreign Policies<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Journalism After Snowden: The Future of the Free Press in the Surveillance State<\/em>, his work focuses on the intersection of media, technology and public policy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Amidst discussion of the Internet of Things, Fenwick McKelvey<\/strong> studies the Internet as<\/em> Things, investigating the machines<\/a>, bots<\/a>, artificial intelligence<\/a>, algorithms<\/a>, and daemons<\/a> that make up the digital world around us. A frequent commentator in the media, Fenwick has been featured on CBC\u2019s Power and Politics<\/em><\/a> and The National<\/em><\/a>, The Guardian<\/em><\/a>, and Wired Magazine<\/em><\/a>, <\/em>among others. He is the author of the award-winning Internet Daemons: Digital Communications Possessed<\/a>, and co-author of The Permanent Campaign: New Media, New Politics<\/a>. Fenwick is an Assistant Professor in Information and Communication Technology Policy in the Department of Communication Studies at Concordia University.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
